Do you have 24-hour nursing?
Yes. There is a nurse on every shift to oversee and work with physicians when necessary.

Are you overseen by an RN?
Yes. The Owner/Administrator, Shelly Cook-Knighting, is a Licensed Registered Nurse.

Do you have a house physician?
Yes. Dr. John McCue is our house doctor. Dr. McCue is board certified in Family Practice and Emergency Medicine, and specializes in a number of other fields including Geriatric Medicine. He has worked at INOVA and is currently a wound care physician at Fauquier Health Wound Healing Center. His country practice, Mountainside Medicine, is located in Sperryville.

Do you accept Medicare and/or Medicaid?
We do not accept Medicare or Medicaid. Our payment options include private pay, long term insurance and aid & assistance from the Veterans Administration. We would be happy to assist in any way possible on how to obtain VA benefits.

Do you accept long-term care insurance?
Yes. Our staff also assists with monthly filing and oversight by the insurance regulators to ensure our facility offers the proper level of care for the resident.

What are your levels of care?
We offer superior care for individuals, ranging from independent living to end of life. Our I2 facility is built to accommodate non-ambulatory patients. I2 facilities have stricter guidelines for fire safety due to the conditions of the patients they house. As a licensed Assisted Living Facility in the State of Virginia, we may admit clients as independent residents through the end of life, provided that the resident does not have or does not develop a prohibited condition. These conditions require additional treatment that our facility is unable to accommodate. Please contact us to discuss these conditions in detail to determine if they apply to you.

What are your rates?
Rates vary according to the unique situation of each resident; therefore, each plan of care is distinctive. We make it our goal to try to keep costs at an affordable level. Feel free to speak to someone regarding financial concerns.

Do you provide transportation for the residents?
Yes. Additional charges may be incurred depending upon the reason for travel.

What happens if a resident goes to the hospital or an appointment?
A personnel member always accompanies our residents until a family member arrives because we feel that they are family. We do not want them to be alone and we feel that we must be there to be an advocate for their needs and explain the reasons for them being transported to the hospital. These types of situations do not create additional expenditures.

What type of training and/or screening do the employees go through?
All employees have obtained a certificate or licensure from an approved Virginia Board of Nursing curriculum and successfully passed a criminal and sex offender background check. Employees also maintain continuing education through the facility and online sessions.

How do I schedule a tour?

What are the steps for admission?
Begin with submitting an application and meeting with our Administrator, Co-Administrator, or Director of Nursing. After review of your application, we will contact you to conduct a phone or in person interview to determine potential eligibility and set an admission date.

Is the facility primarily Catholic oriented?
Loving Arms Assisted Living is a Christian based facility. Although we are conscious of following and celebrating the Catholic calendar, we are welcome all faiths.

Is there a Priest on-site?
A Priest comes monthly to hear confessions and to bring Holy Communion to the Catholic residents. A priest is available on call. If there is a preference to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the Church or to attend Mass at any time, these arrangements will be made. An Extraordinary minister of Holy Communion is available at Loving Arms twice a week. Daily Rosary and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy are prayed daily. Adoration is available Monday – Saturday our local Parish.

What kind/type of food is offered from the dietary department?
Our menus are geared to specific diets with nutrition as the main premise.
Eclectic American comfort style cuisine varies seasonally and by population enjoyment. We try new concepts frequently and if not received well, we move on. We offer three meals and three snacks with options at every service.

Is there assistance during meal times?
Our dining rooms are staffed at all meal times. The staff pitch in with an awareness of residents' needs. The beauty of our dietary structure at Loving Arms in the service aspect. We know our residents. Because of our unique practice at mealtime, we can accommodate the dietary needs of our residents with care and conviction.

What types of diets do you cater?
We prepare meals based on dietary needs like low sodium, heart healthy, carbo-specific, protein-specific, diabetic (no concentrated sweets), mechanical soft, puree, allergy and intolerant awareness, as well as personal likes and dislikes.

Can a family member join their loved one at a meal?
We welcome this fellowship at any meal. We welcome this fellowship at any meal. We also offer a more intimate, private dining room for families. If you are planning to stop by just ask for the kitchen staff and we will be happy to make the arrangements.
